Dementia is the term used to describe a collection of symptoms caused by disorders affecting the brain. It is not one specific disease, and no two people will experience dementia in the same way.
This can make it a challenging illness to treat.
Bankstown City Aged Care (BCAC) is committed to providing evidence-based therapeutic programs to residents living with dementia, to reduce their levels of agitation, frustration, and distress, and in turn, improving their quality of life.
BCAC combines several different programs to create meaning and connection for their residents including art therapy, music therapy, pet therapy, and humour. These activities are proven to elevate mood and decrease loneliness and can improve the interaction and engagement from residents with their families.
Bankstown Sports Club has supported this ongoing initiative since 2016 with annual ClubGRANTS funding contributions, and we will continue to support the program into the future.
