On a special day marking Barnardos Auburn’s 50th Anniversary, Bankstown Sports Club Community Partnerships Advisor, Michelle Watson Deloso, and Auburn Tennis Club Venue Manager, Tony Choueifati, were in attendance for the festivities to celebrate this incredible milestone with the community. In Australia, there are over 1200 reports of child neglect or abuse a day and Barnardos is dedicated to ending child abuse and neglect by empowering families to create safe and nurturing homes. The Auburn Centre plays a crucial role in delivering services such as long day care, case management, temporary accommodation support, kinship care, and domestic and family violence assistance. The anniversary celebration was a vibrant display of culture and community, featuring a Welcome to Country, smoking ceremony, traditional drumming and dancing, and an array of delicious food. Guests were also treated to a memorabilia showcase, reflecting Barnardos Auburn’s deep-rooted history and impact within the local community. Auburn Tennis Club is proud to support Barnardos Auburn, providing $10,000 through the 2023-2024 ClubGRANTS program to fund their Domestic & Family Violence Support: Preventing Tech and Financial Abuse initiative. Together, we are making strides to create safer and more supportive environments for vulnerable families.
