As a not-for-profit organisation, Bankstown Sports strives to make worthwhile, meaningful contributions to our local community. In late 2022, our very own microbrewery Basement Brewhouse launched its Kegs of Kindness initiative, supporting local community organisations with the proceeds from the sale of selected beers and ciders.
The first organisation to sign up for our Kegs of Kindness initiative was the Conviction Group, a non-profit organisation delivering educational programs which encourage young people to re-evaluate their perspectives on health issues and improve their decision-making. Since its inception in 2015, Conviction Group has delivered programs to more than 10,500 students from 100 schools in the local area.
In November 2022, all sales of the New England Pale Ale in Basement Brewhouse were matched by Bankstown Sports Club, with $3,000 donated to Conviction Group.
The second organisation supported by Kegs of Kindness at Basement Brewhouse was The Sweet Dreams Foundation.
Founded in 2020, this group provides transitional housing and support services to people who have escaped domestic violence, coercive control and/or other circumstances of abuse. The Sweet Dreams Foundation also delivers a range of programs to promote positive, independent life skills.
In December 2022, all sales of the Raspberry Beret – Raspberry & Apple Cider in Basement Brewhouse were matched by Bankstown Sports Club, with $5,000 donated to The Sweet Dreams Foundation.
The third organisation involved in this initiative was Together We Can, an organisation supporting people who are needing different levels of care to allow them to find the appropriate support system that will suit their specific needs and ultimately, live a better life. Together We Can have received $6,000 in total to go towards their work from the Kegs of Kindness initiative.
Bankstown Sports is currently finalising a fourth Kegs of Kindness month, with many more to come!
