The Bankstown Sports Group would like to congratulate Baulkham Hills Baseball player Alina Hawron who recently competed against the best young female players in Australia this week, at the Australian Women’s Baseball Championships in Melbourne.
The tournament featured talent from New South Wales, Queensland, Victoria, South Australia and Western Australia, as they battled it out for the 2024 title.
17-year-old Alina made her debut on the Open Women’s NSW Team after skipping the U18’s state team selection, to be selected in the all age team.
In their match against Queensland, Alina led things off for the NSW team, with the right-handed pitcher allowing one hit and zero runs over 3 innings, striking out one. The NSW team finished second in the tournament, returning with a silver medal.
Alina has been playing for the Baulkham Hills Baseball Club since the age of four and joined the women’s first grade team when she was 15 years old, while also playing in juniors with the boys.
Alina has also been umpiring for the past 4 years, showing her true dedication to the sport, and the Club.
In other exciting news for the Baulkham Hills Baseball Club, local juniors Kobe Cusbert and Brady Stockdale, have recently been selected in the U16’s Australian representative teams who now have the opportunity to represent their country on a scheduled tour in the United States of America later this year to play against top level international competition.
Congratulations to the Baulkham Hills Baseball Club and their tireless volunteers who are producing and nurturing the future elite of the game.
